Copley M-serie 3-/4-axis hybrid drives
The M-series is a 3 or 4-axis, high-performance, DC-powered drive for controlling stepper or servo motors via CANopen or EtherCAT. Each axis is configurable to drive a stepper motor, brushless motor, or brushed motor.

Key characteristics
Using advanced FPGA technology, the M-series offers significant cost reduction per node by combining stepper and servo motors in a compact package.
Each axis operates as a CANopen node under CiA-402 or an EtherCAT node under DSP-402 for motion control devices. Supported modes include:
- Cyclic position/velocity/torque
- Profile position/velocity
- Interpolated Position Mode (PVT)
- Homing
The servo mode allows for position/velocity/torque control. The servo mode enables CANopen or digital PWM control of position/velocity/torque. In microstepping mode, stepper motor command pulses and master encoder for camming or gearing are supported.
There are twenty-four high-speed digital inputs with programmable functions available. There are eight MOSFET outputs compatible with 24V. An SPI port is provided with one high-speed input and four high-speed digital outputs. If the SPI is not used, the input and outputs are programmable for other functions.
An RS-232 serial port provides a connection to Copley's CME2 software for commissioning, firmware upgrades, and storing configurations in flash memory.
The drive power is transformer-isolated DC from regulated or unregulated supplies. An AuxHV input is provided for "keep-alive" operation, allowing the drive power to be completely shut down without losing position information or communication with the control system.
