Who is Sanovo?
Sanovo’s egg sorting machines can inspect and sort hundreds of thousands of eggs per hour, ensuring that each egg is placed in the correct packaging while maintaining full traceability.
Project Outcome
In collaboration with Eltrex Motion, Sanovo developed a new motor concept that guarantees accurate packaging alignment on the conveyor belt and enables individual egg handling.
The motor set includes a brushless servo motor from Moons’ Industries, a right-angle worm gearbox from Transtecno, and two Moons’ drives for motor control. It is dustproof, waterproof (IP65), and equipped with an encoder for traceability.

Precision in Motion
Sanovo’s machines, produced in Aalten, use vision systems to inspect incoming eggs for leaks or residue. Approved eggs are weighed, classified, and further checked for cracks before being placed into the correct packaging. This final step requires precise control of the packaging conveyor.
The conveyor must ensure that each packaging unit—whether a 30-egg tray or a 12-egg carton—is positioned exactly beneath the drop point at the right moment. The motor must handle various packaging types with the necessary speed and force.

Ensuring traceability
The motor plays another critical role: tracking each egg within its packaging. ‘To ensure traceability, the motor must not only provide sufficient power but also be equipped with an encoder that communicates the egg’s position to our software system.’
Additional requirements included full IP65 compliance, ensuring the motor set could withstand high-pressure cleaning. Van Hof explains: ‘Eltrex Motion worked directly with Moons to provide cables at the exact required length. This allowed us to design a system without connectors, significantly improving its resistance to water exposure and making the entire set easier to clean.’
