A manufacturer of bottling equipment faced issues with linear ball bearings during the washdown process. The cleaning agent used within this washdown environment was washing the lubrication out of linear ball bearings, leading to high costs for replacing both bearings and shafts. Additionally, frequent machine downtime resulted in significantly reduced production output.
Project Outcome
To provide a suitable solution for this demanding washdown environment, Eltrex Motion recommended using Simplicity® plain bearings from PBC Linear. The results were highly positive. These bearings are designed to operate without lubrication and naturally wipe particles from shafts, eliminating the need for seals. This prevents frequent bearing seizures, protects the shafts, and ensures long-lasting performance in washdown areas.
By replacing traditional ball bearings with this improved alternative, the manufacturer successfully reduced overall operating costs.

Linear ball bearings are a washout for bottling equipment
The manufacturer found that intensive cleaning removed lubrication from both components and surfaces, causing the ball bearings to seize on the shaft. The effect was to destroy both the bearing and the shaft.
