Finding an affordable electric linear actuator with a long lifespan, a high duty cycle, and applicable in the harshest environments is challenging for design engineers. With the expansion of the product line and the improved long lifespan of Thomson’s Electrak LL, it becomes possible for applications where it was previously difficult or impossible to use electric linear actuators.

A long lifespan and no maintenance are key features of the Electrak LL design. Therefore, Thomson has developed a higher speed option and a 48-volt option to meet the power requirements in battery-operated applications. Additionally, the Electrak LL offers extra electronic control options, including CANopen®, SAE J1939 communication, and analog feedback.

The full load duty cycle is 35% for Electrak LL and up to 100% at reduced load, which is significantly higher than comparable actuators. The combination of a higher duty cycle and a longer lifespan makes Electrak LL very suitable for applications where more control over position, load, and speed is desired. Application areas for the Electrak LL include: smart pantographs and couplings for railways, AGVs, automated agricultural robots, movable steps, and access lifts for trains and buses.
