Who is Bercomex?
Bercomex designs and assembles machines for the fully automated inspection, sorting, and bundling of flowers. This requires stepper and servo motors that enable millimetre-precise control of the process. This accuracy is crucial for us. If something goes wrong, a stem falls to the ground and is ruined,' explains Bas van der Werf, Manager of Software Engineering at Bercomex.

Motors for various applications
According to Van der Werf, Moons motors supplied and recommended by Eltrex Motion are integrated throughout the machine. At the start of the Furora machine, the singulator ensures that stems are correctly positioned so that each gripper picks up a single flower. 'By continuously adjusting speed—slowing down or accelerating—all stems are evenly spaced. Timing is critical in this process.'
Stepper and servo motors are also used when trimming flowers to the correct length and bundling them into bouquets.
