Dynamic connection

The electric slip ring, also known as Rotary electric Joint, collector or electrical turning connection, is an essential dynamic connection between static constructions and rotating elements.

They act as an interface which ensures a continuous 360 ° transmission of electrical power, electrical signals from DC to high frequency as well as microwaves, data bus signals and optical signals. Also, in combination with a rotational throughput (media rotary joint), transfer of compressed air, coolant, hydraulic oil, etc. can take place.

In addition to slip contacts, contactless turning connections are used more frequently for transferring digital data at speeds of 100 MBit/s to 10 GBit/s. Examples include active and passive Fiber Optic rotary joints, both single-and multi-channel, RF-Rotary joints, digital and analog, microwave and coaxial, up to 15 channels, DC-40GHz.

Slip rings are manufactured in different designs and sizes. All this depends on:

  • Voltage to be transferred
  • Flow to be transferred
  • Nature and number of the signals
  • Mounting position
  • Desired Bore
  • Rotational speed
  • Available space
  • Environmental conditions
